Key Responsibilities:
- Exhibit effective teaching methods that align with HTA's educational goals and adapt to the guidance provided by the Director of Food and Beverage Training.
- Contribute to the creation of educational materials, including curriculum, assessments, and worksheets, aimed at enhancing the overall effectiveness of HTA's programs.
- Engage and inspire students, fostering an interactive learning environment that encourages questions and mutual respect among participants.
- Deliver organized and coherent lectures while facilitating student-centered discussions.
- Ensure that all classes adhere to food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Oversee Assistant Culinary Instructors to guarantee high-quality instruction.
- Act as a professional representative of HTA within the community, building strong relationships with industry partners to promote student engagement.
- Maintain regular communication with industry partners to support student employment opportunities.
- Interact positively with students, staff, and faculty from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to become successful, employable individuals upon completion of the culinary program.
- Be available to teach all assigned culinary classes as scheduled.
- Possess the ability to commute as required for various responsibilities.
- Utilize personal transportation for culinary-related tasks.
- Demonstrate collaborative skills when working with staff, faculty, students, and industry professionals.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English.
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent culinary diploma as determined by HTA.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience as a Sous Chef or Executive Chef in a fine dining setting.
- Must obtain ServSafe Instructor/Proctor certification prior to commencing teaching duties.
- Flexibility in work hours and days is essential.
- Ability to stand for extended periods while instructing.
- Capacity to lift and move items weighing up to 50 lbs, including the ability to perform various physical tasks related to culinary instruction.
- Proficient in using hands for a range of culinary techniques.
Special Skills and Knowledge:
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Dynamic speaking abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
- A valid Driver's License is required.
- Commitment to advancing HTA's mission and objectives.
