Job Title: Staff Pharmacist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Pharmacist to join our team at the University of Miami. As a Staff Pharmacist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective use of medications in our healthcare setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and supervise the operation of the centralized intravenous admixture program, with a focus on preparing and monitoring chemotherapeutic and investigational intravenous therapies.
  • Ensure the accurate and efficient preparation and delivery of total parenteral nutrition solutions, injectable chemotherapy, antibiotics, and other medications for intravenous therapy.
  • Supervise the unit-dose drug distribution program, reviewing patient profiles and new orders to prevent drug interactions and contraindications.
  • Provide current and accurate drug information to healthcare professionals and patients, including new medications, dosage requirements, indications, contraindications, pharmacology, side effects, and adverse reactions.
  • Supervise the accurate and efficient dispensing of outpatient prescriptions for discharge, day surgery, outpatient clinics, and employee patients.
  • Effectively communicate with physicians, nurses, purchasing technicians, pharmacy technicians, other hospital personnel, and hospital patients to promote and ensure rational drug therapy.
Requirements:
  • Current licensure in good standing in the State of Florida and a degree in Pharmacy from an accredited College of Pharmacy.
  • PharmD is required; consideration will be given to all candidates who have been grandfathered by the state of Florida to keep their licenses active/current if obtained before the changes to the Pharmacists' licenses (PharmD requirement) took place.
  • One year hospital experience required.
  • Good organizational, problem-solving, and computer skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with all levels of UMSylvester employees and leadership.
