Job Title: Pharmacist

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Pharmacist to join our team at a prison facility in Miami, FL. As a Pharmacy Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective use of medications for our patients.

Responsibilities:
  • Screen drug orders for drug interactions and incompatibilities
  • Screen outpatient prescriptions for billing information and whether or not the prescription can be filled depending upon the patient's financial category
  • Consult with physicians as necessary to clarify medication orders
  • Instruct patients on proper use of their medications
  • Prepare and dispense drugs and pharmaceutical preparations
  • Fills prescriptions
  • Assist in ward inspections
  • Check the work of Pharmacy Technician as required
  • Update reference books, treatment authorization requests and non-formulary drug lists
  • Bill medication administration records
  • Assist with chart reviews and audits
  • Coordinate medication borrowing procedures from other hospitals on weekends and holidays
  • Notify appropriate persons when stock levels become low
  • Complete daily I.V. Rounds, check patient profiles, keep/updates I.V. Admixture patient profile records and compounds, chemotherapy I.V.'s
  • Keep records of drugs, poisons and narcotics as required by federal and state law
  • Accompany physicians on medical and surgical rounds as time permits
  • Maintain and keep in clean and orderly condition the drug and chemical supplies of the Pharmacy

Requirements:

  • At least one year (12 months) of experience as a Pharmacist
  • Ability to build rapport with patients
  • Compassionate and caring demeanor
  • Familiarity with medical terminology
  • BLS/CPR
  • Must have up to date certification in FL
