As a key player in the purchasing department at Manitou Americas, you will be responsible for establishing and nurturing effective and ethical relationships with suppliers for various materials, services, and equipment essential to our operations. Your primary focus will be managing vendor relationships and ensuring timely delivery of goods that meet our stringent quality standards while optimizing costs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and engage suppliers that can provide necessary materials and services, ensuring they meet our quality, pricing, and delivery criteria.
- Assess both current and potential suppliers based on quality, reliability, pricing, and overall cost-effectiveness.
- Develop dependable supply sources, aiming to reduce overall purchasing costs and streamline procurement processes through annual agreements.
- Negotiate terms of purchase agreements and contracts to secure the best combination of quality, pricing, and discounts.
- Analyze specifications and vendor capabilities to ensure cost efficiency.
- Maintain clear communication with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Control, and other departments to fulfill your responsibilities effectively.
- Coordinate emergency responses with suppliers to mitigate issues related to delays, quality concerns, or changes in specifications.
- Initiate and manage procurement documentation and transactions in line with established procedures.
- Conduct vendor correspondence to obtain quotes, expedite deliveries, and monitor vendor performance.
- Oversee clerical staff engaged in purchasing support activities.
- Prepare periodic reports on purchasing activities, vendor performance, and other relevant metrics.
- Continuously analyze purchasing procedures to enhance operational efficiency.
- Participate in the development and delivery of training programs, showcasing high-quality methods and skills.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for self-service ERP and MRP customers.
- Deliver training through various formats, including classroom sessions and one-on-one instruction.
- Collaborate with internal departments to improve processes related to employee training and product support.
- Encourage open communication and feedback regarding new technologies and processes.
