We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Power Electronics Engineer to join our team at sonnen. As a key member of our Power Electronics Hardware development group, you will be responsible for designing and developing power electronics hardware from scratch to production floor.

This role requires a strong understanding of power electronics systems, including inverters, converters, and AC systems. You will work closely with our team to validate designs, create engineering specifications, and develop topologies for maximum efficiency and cost competitiveness.

Key responsibilities include designing single-phase and three-phase bidirectional inverters, selecting high-voltage power semiconductors, and performing reliability and cost analyses. You will also be responsible for understanding marketing specifications, deriving proper topologies, and estimating power budgets for individual converters.

Additionally, you will have the opportunity to work on isolated and non-isolated topologies, design with active and passive cooling systems, and develop magnetics for prototype evaluation. Your strong communication skills and documentation skills will be essential in collaborating with our team and providing feasible solutions to complex problems.

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of power electronics systems, including inverters, converters, and AC systems
  • Experience with high-voltage power semiconductors and gate driver design
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, diverse, multicultural, and cross-functional team
  • Good understanding of digital control for power electronics, DSP, and microcontrollers
  • Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment and adapt to new technologies
