Perception Team Overview

The Perception team is responsible for building the system that enables the self-driving car to perceive its surroundings. Our team conducts research to address real-world problems and collaborates with research teams at Alphabet. With access to millions of miles of driving data from a diverse set of sensors, researchers like you can develop complex models and techniques at scale.

Job Responsibilities

In this hybrid role, you will report to an Engineering Director and be responsible for:

  • Applying machine learning techniques to build multi-modal sensor fusion architectures, including object detection and tracking, segmentation, road understanding, flow estimation, and future prediction.
  • Designing large-scale foundation models trained on our vast data.
  • Developing data mining, labeling, training, and evaluation pipelines to help the Waymo Driver.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a similar discipline, or an equivalent amount of deep learning experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in Computer Vision and Machine Learning.
  • Experience with Python/C++.
Preferred Qualifications

We prefer candidates with:

  • PhD degree in Computer Science or a similar discipline.
  • Publications at top-tier conferences like CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, ICLR, ICML, ICRA, RSS, NeurIPS, AAAI, IJCV, PAMI.

The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the role location or, if the role can be performed remote, the specific salary range for your preferred location, during the hiring process. Salary Range $158,000 - $200,000 USD
