Responsibilities:
- Review patient information and medical records to accurately code diagnoses and procedures
- Prepare and submit medical claims to insurance companies
- Verify insurance eligibility and coverage for patients
- Follow up on unpaid claims and denials, and appeal when necessary
- Resolve billing discrepancies and answer patient inquiries regarding their bills
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical billing codes and regulations
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in healthcare administration or related field is a plus
- Proven experience as a Medical Biller or in a similar role
- In-depth knowledge of medical billing codes (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS) and insurance guidelines
- Familiarity with medical terminology and procedures
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in using medical billing software and electronic health records (EHR) systems
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient privacy laws
