Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Litigation Attorney, Risk Management to join our team. As a key member of our risk management program, you will provide legal advice and counsel to the university on risk-related matters, including litigation defense and risk management strategies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the administration and management of the university's risk, claims, and loss control management program.
  • Develop and implement risk management programs for the university, including insured risks and professional and general liability.
  • Identify and assess potential legal risks in complex situations and provide recommendations to further university objectives.
  • Draft legal documents and effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Represent the university in the management of property, automobile, and general liability, and operate university insurance programs for medical professional and general liability.
  • Investigate and make recommendations regarding decisions to settle or defend, selection and assignment of outside counsel, negotiation, adjustment of self-insured claims, and litigation management.
Requirements
  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • License to practice law and in continuous good standing with the State of Ohio.
  • Qualify for appointment as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Ohio.
  • Seven years of experience in litigation and/or risk management.
Preferred Qualifications

Relevant experience providing legal services to a hospital, medical center, or higher education institution.
