Position Overview

Are you passionate about hands-on projects that contribute to national defense? Serco is seeking a Lead Mechanical Fabricator to be part of a significant initiative supporting military operations.

The Lead Mechanical Fabricator will collaborate with a skilled team, focusing on the installation of advanced C5ISR systems. Your expertise and teamwork will play a crucial role in enhancing the safety and effectiveness of our naval forces.

Key Responsibilities

In this position, you will:

  • Oversee a small group or operate independently.
  • Interpret blueprints, specifications, and diagrams to construct and assemble various electromechanical and electronic components.
  • Work in challenging environments aboard naval vessels and military facilities, where conditions may include drafts, noise, and temperature fluctuations.
  • Prioritize safety in all operations.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in reading and executing assembly drawings and sketches for a variety of tasks.
  • Utilize standard practices and procedures relevant to this field.

Qualifications

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • A High School Diploma.
  • The capability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret clearance.
  • Access to shipyards and the ability to pass background checks and drug screenings.
  • OSHA and Forklift certifications.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in shipyard operations.
  • Experience in the following areas:
    • Constructing basic connectors.
    • Managing HAZMAT safety protocols.
    • Understanding quality assurance and contractual obligations.
    • Reading technical drawings at an apprentice level.
    • Operating tools and machinery safely and effectively.
    • Performing tasks such as bolting/unbolting, positioning, and sealing pipe and conduit sections.
    • Conducting safety assessments and promoting a culture of safety.

Additional desired qualifications include:

  • An active DoD Secret clearance.
  • OSHA Certification.
