UPMC Life Changing Medicine - Neonatal Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Role

About the Organization: UPMC Life Changing Medicine is actively seeking a dedicated Full-Time Neonatal Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to become a vital part of the Pediatric Neonatology team.

Position Overview:

This Full-Time role involves covering shifts throughout the week, with flexible shift durations.

We welcome candidates from all experience backgrounds to apply.

Preference will be given to applicants with at least 1 year of NICU experience for Physician Assistant roles.

Department Insights:

Recognized as a leading provider of obstetric and neonatal services, handling over 10,000 births each year.

Serves as a regional hub for high-risk maternal care and fetal interventions.

Operates a Level III NICU, caring for more than 1,000 critically ill newborns annually.

Team Dynamics:

Join a multidisciplinary team that includes neonatologists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and additional healthcare professionals.

Engage in collaborative initiatives with UPMC Children's Hospital.

Key Responsibilities:

- Conduct thorough physical assessments of newborns and infants, ordering necessary diagnostic tests.

- Initiate emergency evaluations and provide immediate treatment.

- Act as a resource for external healthcare providers when necessary.

Qualifications:

For Neonatal Nurse Practitioners:

- A Master's or Doctorate in Nursing is required.

- Certification as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner is mandatory.

For Neonatal Physician Assistants:

- Must be a graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.

- A minimum of 1 year of experience as a Neonatal Physician Assistant is preferred.

Common Requirements for Both Positions:

- Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.

- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

- Clearances as mandated by state regulations.

- Excellent clinical judgment and physical endurance.
