Renewable Energy Systems Engineer

**Job Overview**
Solar Array Photovoltaics Engineers play a critical role in our mission to develop high-volume manufactured, low-cost photovoltaic assemblies for space applications.
**Responsibilities:**
- Drive design and manufacturing process development of photovoltaic assemblies for space applications.
- Model cost, performance, reliability, and manufacturability of photovoltaic assemblies.
- Evaluate current and emerging photovoltaic technologies within all relevant solar industries.
- Develop new tests to characterize degradation mechanisms and predict the performance of proposed designs through product life.
- Perform due diligence on designs including hand calculations, FMEA, and DFMEA.
- Participate in design trades considering mechanical, optical, electrical, thermal, and cost performance.
- Design, document, and release flight designs using industry best standards.
- Coordinate development effort across multiple teams.
- Track and communicate project status.
**Requirements:**
- Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or science.
- 5+ years of experience in technical program management.
**Preferred Skills and Experience:**
- MS or Ph.D. graduate degree in engineering or science.
- Familiarity with spacecraft solar arrays and the space environment.
- Familiarity with high volume manufacturing.
- Familiarity with terrestrial solar arrays.
- Enthusiasm for hands-on prototyping.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
**ITAR Requirements:**
- To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
$150,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience.
