Position Summary:

The Media Production Department at The Juilliard School is in search of a Junior Audio/Video Technician to assist in the execution of audio and video documentation, studio recording sessions, live streaming, and archival/post-production efforts in collaboration with our skilled media team.

This is an exciting period for our department as we enhance our media capabilities with the introduction of live streaming and on-demand services on Juilliard LIVE, curriculum advancements, and student recordings in our newly upgraded recording studio, alongside the growth of our digital archive. Our work is pivotal in providing widespread access to exceptional arts experiences and supports our ongoing fundraising initiatives aimed at making a Juilliard education more accessible.

The Junior Audio/Video Technician plays a crucial role within the Media Department, fulfilling technical and operational responsibilities for live streams, audio/video documentation, post-production tasks, media coordination, studio sessions, and various events that benefit students, alumni, and the broader Juilliard community.

This dynamic position involves collaboration with diverse artistic divisions and production teams to create and distribute digital media that supports the educational journey of Juilliard students. Reporting directly to the Head of Media Engineering, this role also encompasses administrative duties, departmental coordination, and hands-on assistance for Media Production operations and general departmental needs.

Remote work options may be available upon request, depending on the position's on-site requirements.

Compensation: The salary for this position ranges from $55,000 to $65,000 annually.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with audio and video live streaming/documentation in performance venues for Dance, Drama, Music, and special events.
  • Support, manage, and fulfill archival media requests.
  • Operate audio and video equipment, including PTZ and manual cameras.
  • Assist in the Juilliard Recording Studio, including student sessions, special recording projects, interviews, and more.
  • Help with project setups, equipment maintenance, and provide production support as needed.
  • Set up and operate A/V equipment, including sound reinforcement and music playback systems.
  • Maintain equipment, manage inventory, and ensure studio cleanliness and upkeep.
  • Review and confirm the accuracy of project and institutional calendars to support Media Department operations.
  • Participate in meetings and document notes for production and administrative projects.
  • Assist with load-ins and load-outs for various performances, events, and recording studio sessions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the manager to support departmental operations and staff.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of three years of experience in a media production environment.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends based on the performance and events schedule.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Proficient in PremierePro, Final Cut X, and ProTools.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • A background in the performing arts is preferred but not mandatory.
  • A degree in Audio/Video/Media Technology or relevant experience is preferred but not required.
  • Experience in front-of-house live mixing for institutional events, performances, lectures, and more is preferred but not required.
