The Community Resource Advocate plays a vital role in advancing health equity and ensuring that services align with the mission and values of SPFC. This position is dedicated to enhancing access to essential community services for individuals and families in need.
Key Responsibilities- Foster an environment of respect and dignity in all interactions with clients, volunteers, and colleagues.
- Conduct individual assessments to identify immediate needs and formulate plans for assistance.
- Provide ongoing follow-up to ensure clients connect with community resources and facilitate additional support as necessary.
- Maintain accurate client records while upholding confidentiality standards.
- Stay informed about local resources and services available to clients, including application processes for assistance and housing.
- Assist clients with employment-related needs and maintain awareness of community job opportunities and support services.
- Guide clients through the SNAP benefits application process and establish a rapport with relevant agencies.
- Build and sustain collaborative relationships with service providers to effectively address client needs.
- Identify opportunities for community resources to engage with clients directly on-site.
- Participate in networking meetings to stay updated on relevant resources and programs.
- Educate staff and volunteers about available services and prepare training materials as needed.
- Contribute to the continuous evaluation and enhancement of We Help Services.
- Support the overall operations of We Help Services, including client intake and front desk duties.
- Assist with scheduling and training of volunteers, as well as data entry and reporting tasks.
- Ensure the workspace remains functional, presentable, and organized.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Maintain documentation in compliance with policies and procedures.
- Uphold confidentiality at all times.
- Support SPFC's commitment to diversity and inclusion.
- Adhere to agency policies and all relevant regulations.
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Exceptional relationship-building skills with internal stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal skills and patience.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and various software applications.
- Commitment to the mission and values of SPFC.
- Experience with databases is preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required.
- Experience in social services or human services is desired.
- Knowledge of public assistance and local resources in Pinellas County is essential.
- Bi-lingual (Spanish) is strongly preferred.
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer.
- Capability to lift up to 25 pounds as needed.
- Occasional bending and lifting in various environments.
