Job Title: Assistant/Associate Professor and Chair, Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine

New York Institute of Technology is seeking a highly qualified and experienced academic professional to serve as the Assistant/Associate Professor and Chair of Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine. This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic team of educators and researchers who are dedicated to providing high-quality medical education to students.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and refine the on-campus curriculum specific to Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine, ensuring that it meets the highest standards of academic excellence.
  • Oversee the clinical faculty who are teaching at the Arkansas campus site in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine, providing guidance and support to ensure that they are meeting their responsibilities.
  • Assess the needs of the institution and the Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine department, and recruit and hire new faculty members as needed.
  • Conduct regular faculty reviews to evaluate performance, work-related issues, work effort allocations, and areas for improvement.
  • Complete formal annual faculty evaluations for reappointment and promotion committee.
  • Manage the department budget and participate in annual campus budget meetings.
  • Track and approve faculty requested time off, including vacation, sick, continuing medical education, and personal time.
  • Support the Mission of NYITCOM by participating in outreach and/or community service activities, such as Health Fairs, Free clinics, and local or Regional Outreach that involves students and/or the NYITCOM Mission.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to achieve NYITCOM-AR mission and strategic growth.
Qualifications:
  • D.O. degree from a COCA-approved school of osteopathic medicine is required.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible is required.
  • Current, unrestricted Arkansas State Medical License is required.
  • Completion of residency training with AOA board certification or CSP-OMM/NMM certification is required.
  • Preferred 5 years of experience in an academic setting/medical school setting with successful demonstration of educating medical students and other health/science-related students.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills and timely responses by email communication.
  • Strong team player with a positive attitude.
  • Commitment to company values.
  • Basic computer proficiency with the Microsoft suite.
Preferred Skills:
  • General knowledge in primary care and rural medicine.
  • Current proficiency (or ability to develop proficiency) in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine theory and techniques.
  • Prior teaching experience (whether in classroom setting, in clinical setting, in CME, or in residency setting).
  • Demonstrated ability in leadership needed to achieve proficiency in academics and research.
