You will play an active role in your professional development by assessing your progress against established core competencies.

Typically, engineers will engage in the Engineer Mentoring Program for a duration of 24 months before progressing to a new role within Graycor.

AS A PROJECT ENGINEER, YOU WILL GAIN EXPERIENCE IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS:

Project Management/Project Controls:

  • Support the Project Manager and Superintendent in effectively managing and controlling the project, ensuring that safety and quality protocols are implemented on-site.
  • Develop and sustain the critical path project schedule, including regular updates. Collaborate with the Project Manager and/or Superintendent to prepare short-term look-ahead schedules and apply Lean Construction methodologies.
  • Maintain project documentation and facilitate approvals from the Owner, Architect, and Engineers. Acquire a thorough understanding of all contract documents, including plans, specifications, and purchase orders.
  • Assist in sourcing equipment and materials, tracking their delivery and ensuring timely procurement.
  • Monitor and assess subcontractor and vendor performance, engaging with them on technical and contractual issues.
Estimating/Preconstruction Services:
  • Contribute to the preparation of estimates and proposals to secure project work. Assist the Project Manager and/or Estimator in bid preparation, subcontractor/vendor outreach, evaluation, and selection.
TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE GRAYCOR ENGINEERING MENTORING PROGRAM, YOU WILL NEED:
  • A Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 0-3 years of relevant experience in construction internships or post-undergraduate roles.
  • The willingness to travel extensively and temporarily reside at project sites for extended periods, with travel home provided periodically. Travel subsistence pay and incentive bonuses may be applicable.
  • A strong desire to grow professionally and acquire new skills. Our most successful Engineers are driven to excel and have a passion for construction across diverse projects, including retail developments, entertainment facilities, hospitality, office spaces, logistics, and sustainable building practices.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment. Multi-tasking with urgency while maintaining a keen attention to detail and accuracy is essential.
  • Strong communication skills, enabling effective interaction with managers, colleagues, subcontractors, and construction personnel.
  • Problem-solving and analytical thinking capabilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, with additional knowledge of scheduling, estimating, and takeoff software being advantageous. We utilize Primavera P6, WinEst, and On-Screen Takeoff.
