Job Summary
The Clinical Laboratory Technician I is responsible for executing or overseeing a diverse range of technical procedures within a hospital laboratory or similar healthcare facility. This role involves performing essential duties related to patient care and ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct pulmonary function and exercise assessments on patients to aid in the diagnosis and management of respiratory conditions.
- Instruct and guide patients through complex breathing tests, ensuring they understand the procedures and can perform them effectively.
- Participate in research initiatives that require pulmonary function testing as a key evaluation metric.
- Master various lung function measurements to produce consistent and precise results.
- Understand and operate laboratory equipment, including computerized systems, to ensure optimal performance and troubleshooting.
Qualifications
Required:
Graduation from an accredited institution with a focus on natural sciences or equivalent experience. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, along with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Preferred:
Experience in a clinical setting, particularly with critically ill patients. Familiarity with phlebotomy and the ability to handle human blood safely. A background in physiology and statistical analysis is advantageous.
