Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Attorney IV to join our team at Orange County Government. As a key member of our County Attorney's Office, you will play a critical role in providing legal support to various divisions of county government.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal counsel and support to county staff, including areas related to Real Estate, Zoning, Code Enforcement, Animal Services, Procurement, Grant Administration, Housing, Public Works, Utilities, Planning, Environment, Development, Impact Fees, Concurrency, Vested Rights, Gifts, Ethics, and Labor and Employment.
- Prepare and review legal documents, including ordinances, resolutions, and administrative regulations.
- Represent the county in lawsuits, appellate proceedings, and administrative appeals.
- Provide office legal counsel and transaction negotiation services to Division level, County Administration, and Chairman's staff.
- Review and recommend courses of action and/or settlement based on experience and professional judgment.
- Undertake and conduct settlement negotiations without direct supervision.
- Attend meetings of Advisory Boards, County and State regulatory agencies, and Board of County Commissioners to provide legal advice and assistance in policy formulation.
- Review junior staff work product and professional performance.
- Act as Section Chief, when so designated, functioning as liaison between the County Attorney and junior professional and clerical staff.
- Accept administrative duties within the County Attorney's Office as delegated by County Attorney.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited law school.
- Possession of a Florida license to practice law.
- Eight years of experience as an attorney.
