Position Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and accurately document verbal and written orders from physicians regarding respiratory therapy interventions.
  • Utilize clinical expertise to ensure that care is tailored to meet the unique physical and emotional needs of residents, considering their age and condition.
  • Operate within the professional scope of practice for both adult and geriatric populations.
  • Initiate, monitor, and manage mechanical ventilation, ensuring optimal respiratory support for residents.
  • Perform life-saving procedures such as Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and assist with airway management.
  • Collect and analyze blood gas samples to assess respiratory function.
  • Conduct chest physiotherapy techniques, including therapeutic percussion and drainage.
  • Administer pulmonary function tests and manage the delivery of medical gases and aerosol therapies.
  • Oversee tracheostomy care, including suctioning and airway maintenance.
  • Provide education and training to residents, families, and nursing staff on respiratory care practices.
  • Document all relevant patient data and responses to therapy in accordance with facility policies.
  • Participate actively in team meetings and contribute to the continuous improvement of care practices.
  • Engage in professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge in respiratory care.

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of facility goals and policies.
  • Adhere to ethical standards and compliance regulations as outlined by FutureCare.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the operational needs of the facility.

Qualifications:

  • Current licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the state of Maryland.
  • A minimum of one year of clinical experience in respiratory care.
  • Current CPR certification, with renewal every two years.
  • Demonstrated ability to address the psychosocial needs of residents and their families.
  • Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Physical capability to lift and assist residents as needed.
