Position Overview
The Patient Advocate at RevOne Companies is responsible for establishing rapport, resolving issues, and guiding patients through the application procedures and follow-ups. This role is integral to a collaborative team within a call center setting. A successful Patient Advocate demonstrates exceptional customer service capabilities and delivers prompt, courteous assistance to patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a significant volume of incoming calls
- Maintain and update patient records
- Organize daily task queues
- Provide technical support regarding agency services and programs
- Ensure accurate documentation and record-keeping
- Sort, label, and electronically file important documents
- Verify and collect patient information to assess eligibility
- Complete online Medicaid applications through the designated portal
- Prepare and review documents for accuracy
- Communicate effectively and positively with patients and team members
- Exhibit strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Quickly learn and navigate various systems and electronic medical records (EMRs)
- Maintain professionalism and composure in challenging situations
- Utilize critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrate excellent organizational and time management abilities
- Work independently while being oriented towards multitasking
- Foster collaborative relationships with hospital staff
- Uphold confidentiality standards at all times (i.e., PHI, HIPAA, and HITEC)
- Support the overarching mission and objectives of RevOne Companies
- Proficient in computer applications
- Ability to learn multiple databases and EMRs
- Capable of multitasking effectively
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Able to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Experience with Epic software is advantageous
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum one year of experience in a patient advocacy role or equivalent training
- Comprehensive understanding of Medicaid programs
- Familiarity with the Federal Marketplace
- General knowledge of community programs and services affecting clients
- Good mathematical reasoning and computational skills
- Adept at interpreting rules and regulations
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients and public officials
- Collaborative team player
- Ability to perform tasks within designated timeframes
- High level of accuracy in repetitive tasks
- Knowledge of HIPAA, FDCPA, and Red Flag regulations
This role may involve challenging interactions with patients over the phone. Comprehensive training is provided, along with ongoing support from team leaders. Effective judgment is essential when addressing patient concerns.
