Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Teradyne's Defense and Aerospace Division. As a key member of our mechanical design group, you will be responsible for the design, documentation, and release of cables, ITA's, and custom test fixtures.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop mechanical systems, including cables, ITA's, and custom test fixtures, for our automated test equipment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product marketing, project managers, and systems engineering, to understand customer needs and implement design solutions.
  • Work closely with development teams to provide technical guidance, trade-off analysis, project scheduling, and change management.
  • Effectively interact with customers to solve problems and build collaborative relationships.
  • Manage project priorities and lead development teams in key areas, including communication clarity, technical guidance, and project scheduling.
Requirements:
  • SOLIDWORKS 2018 or higher and PDM (product data management) experience.
  • Detailed understanding of metal fabrication, machining, and various fastening methods.
  • Ability to generate mechanical design and documentation of components and assemblies, including detailed drawings.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Visio, Word, and Excel.
  • Fluency in IPC/WHMA-A-620: Requirements and Acceptance for Cable and Wire Harness Assemblies.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Initiative, motivation, and drive to bring highly integrated and complex products to market.
  • Disciplined and methodical engineering rigor and careful attention to detail.
  • Leadership and communication skills for effective influence with customers, internal teammates, and suppliers.
  • Proficiency in fundamentals of machine design, including thermal analysis, tolerances, precision alignment, and mechanical properties of materials.
  • Competency in material selection, manufacturing processes, and mechanical fabrication methods.
  • Experience designing cables, ITA's, and custom test fixtures for automated test equipment.
Education:

Minimum B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field with a minimum 5 years of experience in electro-mechanical design of cables, ITA's, and custom test fixtures.
