Job Summary

Tacoma Community College is seeking a highly skilled Art Studio Technician to join our team. As a key member of our Art Department, you will provide technical support and expertise in specific art studio practices, including ceramics, sculpture, photography, drawing/painting, printmaking, and digital art.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide instructional support to students in the art discipline(s) you are responsible for, including planning and conducting demonstrations, monitoring supplies and equipment, and assisting faculty in the development of programs of instruction.
  • Work closely with lead professors to ensure the safe handling of equipment and tools during class and open studio time.
  • Prepare equipment, materials, and chemicals for class projects, and conduct studio or lecture demonstrations as needed.
  • Inventories studio supplies and equipment, and creates purchase orders as needed.
  • Conducts studio or lecture demonstrations when needed, and confers with professors to establish and develop assignments.
  • Writes, edits, or modifies art studio handouts or manuals, and operates and performs routine maintenance and repairs on art studio equipment.
  • Instructs students, work-study, and faculty in the use of equipment, and prepares progress reports concerning research activities.
  • Monitors studios to ensure compliance with safety policy and PPE, and assists in the development of safe laboratory procedures.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree with major study in specific instructional area OR Equivalent education/experience.
  • Successful completion of a criminal history background check.
