The technician will also address behavioral health needs, ensuring a nurturing and supportive atmosphere for seniors experiencing dementia and related behavioral challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement a wide array of activities tailored to seniors, taking into account their interests, capabilities, and preferences.
- Facilitate programs aimed at improving residents' mental and physical health, instructing them in various activities such as sports, dance, music, art, or relaxation techniques that cater to their specific requirements. Monitor and assess residents' emotional states, identifying signs of stress, anxiety, or depression, and documenting any changes in behavior and engagement.
- Effectively communicate available programs to residents and motivate their participation.
- Assist with resident care needs on the floor as necessary.
- Demonstrate flexibility in working hours to fulfill job requirements.
- Adaptability in program delivery and execution is crucial for success in this position.
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a social or recreational program, ideally within a boarding home or long-term care environment, facilitating both individual and group activities.
- Must be at least 18 years old and possess a High School diploma or equivalent.
- Willingness to obtain or possess HCA/CNA certification from the State of Washington.
- Knowledge of nursing care practices, particularly in geriatric care, and familiarity with state Boarding Home regulations regarding resident care.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills.
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced setting.
- Reliable team player with a caring disposition, capable of fostering an environment of dignity and respect.
- Clear background check.
