Medical Assistant Dermatology Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at Scottsdale Skin Boutique & Dermatology. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our providers in delivering high-quality services.
Key Responsibilities- Provide administrative and clinical support to our providers, including scheduling appointments, preparing patients for exams, and maintaining accurate medical records.
- Assist with laboratory work, X-ray, and other tests as ordered by the provider, and verify results in a timely manner.
- Obtain insurance authorization and pre-certification prior to medications/surgery, and inform the provider and patient of any unexpected financial obligations.
- Order medical supplies for the office to keep exam rooms and the procedure room properly stocked.
- Triage patients as needed in emergent situations under the direct advice of the provider, and take patient phone calls regarding medical conditions, results, or questions.
- Assist with scheduling return appointments and answering telephones when the Patient Care Coordinator is helping another patient.
- Maintain equipment, including surgical instruments, and autoclave, following office policy for cleaning and sterilizing instruments, and keeping adequate instruments available.
- Keep exam rooms and procedure rooms neat and clean.
- Dispose of hazardous waste at the end of each day according to office and building policy.
- Maintain accurate OSHA records and pharmacy records for drug samples in coordination with the provider. Meet with pharmaceutical vendors to keep the sample cabinets stocked as requested by the provider.
- Perform other duties or projects as requested by the Operations Executive or Provider to ensure the smooth operation of the Practice.
- High School diploma/GED or equivalent with completion of state-approved medical assistant training program.
- Experience in a Dermatology office with Back Office experience preferred but not required.
- BLS Certification required.
- EMA Dermatology (EHR) experience preferred.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA regulations.
