Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Certified Sterile Processing Specialist to join our team at Ascension. As a key member of our sterile processing department, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest level of quality and safety in the preparation and sterilization of medical instruments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Instrument Inspection and Preparation: Inspect, assemble, and evaluate surgical instruments and instrument sets to ensure quality and determine the need for repair or replacement.
  • Sterilization and Decontamination: Operate sterilization equipment and inspect instruments, equipment, and containers to ensure cleanliness and proper functioning. Perform decontamination of soiled instruments, sterilization containers, and equipment according to established protocols.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain proper levels of inventory to ensure availability for case carts.
  • Quality Assurance: Perform regular quality assurance program audits of peers to ensure adherence to established standards and protocols.
Requirements
  • Licensure/Certification: One or more of the following required: Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association or the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution.
  • Education: High School diploma equivalency or 1 year of applicable cumulative job-specific experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Sterile Processing Experience: Previous experience in sterile processing is highly preferred.
  • CRCST Certification: Full CRCST certification is required.
