Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Certified Sterile Processing Specialist to join our team at Ascension Seton. As a key member of our Sterile Processing department, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality of surgical instruments and equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Inspect and assemble surgical instruments and instrument sets to ensure quality and completeness.
  • Operate sterilization equipment and inspect instruments, equipment, and containers to ensure cleanliness and proper functioning.
  • Perform decontamination of soiled instruments, sterilization containers, and equipment according to instructions for use and established protocols.
  • Correct instrument sets according to current standards, established count sheets, and/or instrument tracking systems.
  • Maintain proper levels of inventory to ensure availability for case carts.
  • Perform regular quality assurance program audits of peers.
Requirements
  • One or more of the following certifications required: Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing from the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association or the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution.
  • High School diploma equivalency or 1 year of applicable cumulative job-specific experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of hospital SPD experience.
  • Level 1 Trauma and/or Pediatrics experience is a plus.
