Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Systems Development Manager to join our team at Medical Mutual of Ohio. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for managing the development of our business applications and ensuring the effective execution of projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage daily operations of development staff, providing technical expertise and resolving problems escalated to the Manager level.
  • Develop work plans, goals, and objectives, and evaluate project progress in relation to development staff activities.
  • Advises and consults with IT Department peers regarding the identification of software and information infrastructure problem areas, determines procedural changes and/or application program modifications, and assists with problem resolution.
  • Assesses business area needs through periodic onsite visits to provide visible support and proactive service, including analysis of opportunities in order to take advantage of existing tools and technical capabilities.
  • Manages appropriate staffing, staff management, performance management, staff training, and overall scheduling.
  • Advocates, educates, and enforces all internal and external security and privacy policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, business, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 6 years of experience managing business applications and customer-oriented systems.
  • 3 years of experience managing high-performance teams and budget management experience.
  • 8 years of IT and business/health insurance industry experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Basic understanding of multiple applications development methodologies and best practices.
  • Basic understanding of delivering and supporting technical solutions in various infrastructure domains.
  • Excellent project management skills, with demonstrated track record.
  • Working knowledge of applications in area of responsibility.
