Job Summary

Hernandez Construction & Development is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Superintendent to oversee and manage all day-to-day job site activities, ensuring compliance with safety standards, quality control, and project scope.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage all job site activities, including OSHA safety compliance, to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel.
  • Direct field personnel according to project plans and Hernandez Construction supervisory principles.
  • Communicate daily issues, events, performance, and progress to the Project Manager.
  • Report problems promptly to the Project Manager to facilitate cost-effective solutions.
  • Establish effective working relationships with clients, consultants, authorities having jurisdiction, and Hernandez Construction team members.
  • Request advice and assistance from the General Superintendent on matters pertaining to materials, sequencing, scheduling, and personnel.
  • Develop and implement construction schedules in the field, ensuring timely completion of projects.
  • Maintain the schedule and ensure that work performed is consistent with the contract and meets or exceeds client expectations.
  • Update Project Schedule monthly.
  • Provide progress reports with a three-week look ahead of schedule to the Project Manager and field staff.
  • Ensure all subcontractors participate in safety pre-construction meetings and have necessary safety documentation.
  • Review project daily to ensure compliance with OSHA and governing requirements.
  • Review safety reports and injury data to assess safety performance.
  • Ensure project(s) are budgeted and staffed appropriately to support safety programs.
  • Communicate clear expectations for safety to project teams.
  • Adhere to Hernandez Construction Safety program requirements.
  • Ensure all pertinent benchmarks for the project are established and inserted into the baseline schedule.
  • Ensure all appropriate individuals adhere to Hernandez Construction Quality Standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an applicable discipline and experience relative to project size/scope and/or experience in related construction fields.
  • Ability to manage and adapt to change, respond to new processes, and new ways of looking at old problems.
  • Excellent team development skills and leadership abilities.
  • Strong ability to partner with the Project Manager and staff.
  • Committed to excellence.
  • Capable of dealing with ambiguity and tight work oversight.
  • Able to constantly multi-task and handle competing priorities between business needs and organizational issues while maintaining excellent customer relations.
  • Must possess the business judgment to negotiate the critical balance between budget and construction processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to act confidently and decisively.
