Position Overview

As a Fire Support Specialist in the Army National Guard, you will play a crucial role in an elite artillery team. Your primary responsibility will be to gather and relay intelligence that supports infantry and armored units during combat missions, while acquiring valuable skills that are highly regarded in civilian careers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the Forward Observer, providing essential target acquisition for artillery units.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication channels using advanced equipment.
  • Operate laser range finders and utilize both manual and computerized methods for determining target locations.
  • Assist in the preparation and dissemination of fire support plans.
  • Supervise and mentor junior Soldiers as you advance in your role.

Training and Development
Instead of incurring costs for training, you will earn a salary while you learn.
