Qualifications:

Education:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Currently enrolled in or have completed an accredited Respiratory Care Program
Experience:
  • 2nd Year Students are encouraged to apply
Licenses and Certifications:
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support certification required prior to independent patient care.
Skills:

Position Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

Basic Respiratory Skills:
  • Administers and monitors fundamental respiratory procedures and treatments, including inhaled medications and oxygen delivery.
  • Adheres to hospital and national patient safety standards.
Clinical Procedures:
  • Assists with specialized procedures such as pulmonary function testing and analyzing arterial blood gases.
  • Responds promptly as a BCLS provider during emergency situations.
Clinical Skill:
  • Conducts patient assessments, formulates care plans, and adjusts therapy as needed.
  • Communicates effectively with physicians and multidisciplinary team members.
  • Operates mechanical ventilators according to established protocols.
Documentation:
  • Records all treatments, procedures, and patient assessments accurately.
  • Utilizes department computer systems to document patient therapy and diagnostic tests.
  • Maintains legible documentation.
Teamwork:
  • Collaborates effectively within the department and across disciplines.
  • Completes assignments with appropriate supervision and seeks assistance when necessary.
  • Proactively engages with colleagues when tasks are completed.
  • Accepts additional responsibilities willingly.
  • Treats all team members with respect and fairness.
Planning:
  • Punctuality and adherence to scheduled shifts are essential.
  • Completes all assigned tasks promptly and in accordance with departmental standards.
  • Regularly checks for new orders and initiates therapy as per protocol.
Professionalism:
  • Maintains BCLS certification.
  • Completes required competencies and meets performance review goals.
