Job Summary

Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute is seeking a highly skilled Surgical Tech III to join our team. As a key member of our surgical team, you will be responsible for maintaining a sterile environment, passing instruments and supplies to surgeons, and assisting with surgical procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain a clean and organized surgical field, ensuring a safe and efficient environment for surgical procedures.
  • Pass instruments and supplies to surgeons, anticipating and prioritizing their needs to ensure seamless procedure execution.
  • Participate in sponge, needle, and instrument counts, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Assist in maintaining the surgical specimen, ensuring proper identification and preservation for pathology evaluation.
  • Collaborate with Registered Nurses to serve as a technical subject matter expert for at least one tertiary specialty.
  • Provide scrub services for major procedures in at least two surgical specialties, demonstrating high physician satisfaction.
  • Prepare and conduct technical performance-oriented training related to specialty services.
  • Serve as a preceptor to perioperative personnel rotating through scrub roles associated with their primary specialty.
  • Collaborate with surgeons and proactively address case needs when performing duties in either the scrub or second circulator roles.
  • Contribute to workflow process improvement activities, demonstrating career growth and development.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of a Surgical Technology training program or Orlando Health training program.
  • Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification.
  • Four years of surgical tech experience (CST and two years of surgical tech experience may substitute for the required experience).
