Key Responsibilities- Food Service Operations: Direct and supervise a team of food production employees in a high-volume production kitchen, ensuring the efficient and safe preparation of meals.
- Menu Planning and Implementation: Plan and implement nutritionally balanced, attractive, and cost-effective meal menus, working closely with supervisors to discuss daily menus, issues, and problems.
- Inventory Management: Manage inventory ordering and control duties, ensuring that required supplies and materials are available as needed.
- Sanitation and Safety: Maintain a high degree of sanitation in all assigned areas, ensuring safe chemical usage and adhering to regulatory requirements.
- Employee Supervision and Development: Direct, train, supervise, lead, evaluate, develop, and coach all assigned personnel, including interviewing, hiring, and training employees.
- Administrative Duties: Prepare production records, maintain administrative materials, and complete various inspection checklists.
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Experience: At least five years of experience as a kitchen manager in a restaurant or healthcare setting, with three years of experience managing a production staff of 25 or more.
- Certifications: Alaska Food Handler's Card or ServSafe Certification contingent upon 30 days of hire.
- Language: Contract requires employees to speak, understand, read, and write English.
- Culinary Degree: Preference will be given to those with a Culinary Associates Degree or in a related field.
- Experience: Five years of consecutive employment in similar operations with comparable responsibilities.
The Kitchen Operations Manager will work in an industrial kitchen located in a school setting, with occasional exposure to extreme weather. The position requires frequent lifting and/or moving up to 35 pounds, as well as the ability to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.
