Job Overview

We are seeking an Environmental Sustainability Specialist to join our team at ASARCO LLC in Sahuarita, US-AZ. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental laws and regulations, conducting field and office activities to support documentation of compliance, and evaluating environmental conditions.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain site environmental plans, including Emergency Response Plan, SPCC, Hazardous Waste Contingency Plan, Pollution Prevention Plan, SWPPP, and Hazmat Security Plan.
  • Ensure compliance with requirements contained within site environmental permits, including Az PDES, APP, Title V, Waste, etc.
  • Assist with collection, preparation, and delivery of water, air, and waste samples.
  • Analyze data, prepare reports, and draft cover letters for compliance reporting related to operational permits.
  • Conduct inspections required by regulatory agencies to ensure function of environmental controls for air, water, and waste permits.
  • Investigate and write summary reports detailing cause and impact to the Environmental Manager.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental/applied sciences, engineering, or related field.
  • EPA Method 9 certification, RCRA and MSHA training (will be required after start of work).
  • Grade 1 or 2 Water Distribution System Operator certification desirable.
  • English language fluency.
Work Environment

The ideal candidate will have a strong aptitude for evaluating results of collected data and observations, excellent communication skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks.
