About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled GNC Systems Engineer to join our team at Argo Space. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing the guidance, navigation, and control systems for our spacecraft.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive Mission Performance: Develop and implement advanced GNC algorithms to ensure the optimal performance of our spacecraft in various mission scenarios.
  • Lead Rapid Execution Efforts: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to rapidly design, develop, and test GNC systems, ensuring timely delivery of our spacecraft.
  • Hands-on Prototyping and Testing: Conduct hands-on prototyping, troubleshooting, and testing of GNC simulations, flight algorithms, and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
  • Develop Simulation and Modeling Tools: Design and develop advanced simulation and modeling tools to support vehicle and GNC trade studies.
  • Develop Novel Algorithms: Develop innovative algorithms for low-thrust trajectory optimization, RPOD, and spacecraft attitude control and orbit determination.
  • Select and Size Actuators and Sensors: Select and size actuators and sensors to support spacecraft attitude control.
  • Negotiate Requirements: Collaborate with stakeholders to negotiate requirements, providing alternative solutions that meet company and mission objectives.
  • Conduct Design Reviews: Conduct design reviews, test readiness reviews, and flight readiness reviews with a focus on technical excellence.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Relevant Field: Hold a Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering or physics discipline.
  • 3+ Years of Experience: Possess 3+ years of experience designing complex control systems that operate in harsh environments.
  • Maintain Flexibility: Demonstrate the ability to maintain flexibility in direction under changing circumstances.
  • Track Record of Delivering Technical Products: Showcase a track record of delivering novel, excellent technical products.
  • Demonstrated Knowledge in GNC Systems: Demonstrate knowledge in designing, modeling, testing, and flying aerospace GNC systems.
  • Understanding of Orbital Mechanics: Possess an understanding of orbital mechanics, modeling, and simulation.
  • Software Development Skills: Possess software development skills in C/C++/Python/MATLAB/Simulink.
  • System Engineering and Configuration Management Skills: Demonstrate system engineering and configuration management skills.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Engineering or Physics: Hold a Master's degree in engineering or physics.
  • Experience with Trajectory Design Tools: Possess experience with GMAT, AGI STK/Astrogator, FreeFlyer, or similar trajectory design, analysis, and optimization tools.
  • Demonstrated Experience with Clean Sheet GNC: Demonstrate experience with clean sheet GNC, simulation, software development, and conceptual spacecraft design.
  • Experience with Spacecraft On-Orbit Operations: Possess experience with spacecraft on-orbit operations.
  • Experience with Rendezvous, Proximity Operations, and Docking: Demonstrate experience with rendezvous, proximity operations, and docking.
