Responsibilities
  • Enforce rules and regulations while providing care to ensure safety and security
  • Help adults in custody be orderly and obey agency guidelines and standards
  • Monitor activities and supervise work assignments
  • Conduct cell checks and searches for contraband
  • Settle disputes and enforce discipline
  • Observe, inspect, and report on safety, sanitary, and fire hazards
About the Department

The Oregon Department of Corrections is responsible for over 12,000 adults in custody in 12 state prisons throughout Oregon. Our mission is to promote public safety by holding offenders accountable for their actions and reducing the risk of future criminal behavior.

Requirements
  • Possess a high school diploma or GED
  • Be 21 years of age or older
