Job Title: Youth Educator

We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate Youth Educator to join our team at Rape Trauma Services. As a key member of our Prevention Education Program, you will play a vital role in providing educational presentations and workshops to schools, community organizations, and individuals affected by sexual abuse/assault.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and deliver culturally relevant workshops and presentations to youth and other stakeholders, prioritizing outreach to middle schools, high schools, local community colleges, social service agencies, and government agencies involved with youth.
  • Provide training and technical assistance for teachers and school staff who encounter youth victims of violence, conducting outreach to schedule trainings focused on prevention and intervention, including providing on-going counseling services and/or referrals to appropriate agencies.
  • Collaborate with partners to bolster and refresh staff and partner agencies' competencies in working with youth, including techniques to help with relating to and building trusting relationships with youth.
  • Collect, maintain, and input accurate information into program database, completing monthly reports including narrative description of program activities, objectives, and goals.
  • Answer crisis line calls and meet with walk-in clients during business hours, as needed, providing medical/legal accompaniment services to survivors of sexual assault.
  • Attend bi-weekly team meetings, maintaining a positive, professional working relationship with volunteers, clients, the general public, agency staff, and community partners at all times.
  • Perform administrative and operational tasks, such as copying, stocking informational packets, and sharing office coverage, adhering to all RTS personnel policies and protocols.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent career experience required.
  • 1-3 years of experience providing outreach and education, with a passion for working with and empowering youth.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English desired, with strong, dynamic public speaking and training skills, excellent interpersonal communication skills, and ability to listen, clarify, validate, and respectfully challenge.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple tasks, and excellent writing skills, with a creative thinker who can translate RTS' mission, vision, and values to a wide array of audiences.
  • Self-motivated and a team player, with ability to work in a fast-paced and evolving environment, establishing rapport with diverse groups and individuals, and willingness to work flexible hours, including some weekend and evening hours to finish projects on time.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PPT), Google Suite, and other commonly used applications, with a valid California driver's license, insurance, and reliable access to transportation, and familiarity with San Mateo County and community resources.
