Glaucoma Specialist Role

  • The Glaucoma Specialist will primarily engage in clinical activities at the Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin Eye Institute, with potential for additional responsibilities at affiliated satellite clinics.
  • Faculty members are expected to provide clinical services at various healthcare facilities, offering ample opportunities for teaching residents in Ophthalmology.
  • The department comprises a collaborative team of 36 physicians, nine optometrists, and five research PhDs, fostering a supportive academic environment.
  • Ideal candidates will possess strong clinical skills, excellent interpersonal abilities, and a dedication to the academic mission of MCW. Board Certification or Eligibility by the American Board of Ophthalmology, completion of a Glaucoma Fellowship, and eligibility for medical licensure in Wisconsin are required. Interest in clinical or basic science research is preferred and may be supported with initial funding.

Comprehensive Ophthalmologist Role

  • The Comprehensive Ophthalmologist position seeks an academically driven individual to become part of the faculty at the Medical College of Wisconsin. This role is also available in either a traditional or clinician-educator track.
  • The Eye Institute is recognized nationally as a premier academic center for ophthalmology, housing 27 physicians, 7 optometrists, and 5 faculty vision scientists dedicated to enhancing and preserving vision.
  • This position is based at a specialized clinic with significant operating room time available at a nearby surgery center. Call responsibilities are shared among the ophthalmology team, amounting to a manageable frequency of trauma and consult calls.
  • Successful candidates should demonstrate robust clinical and surgical expertise, refined interpersonal skills, and a commitment to the academic goals of MCW. Board Certification or Eligibility by the American Board of Ophthalmology and eligibility for medical licensure in Wisconsin are essential. An interest in research, whether clinical or basic science, is desirable and may receive institutional support.
