Job Overview

Viaero Fiber Networks is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. As a key member of our construction crew, you will be responsible for installing and maintaining our fiber optic network facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate various heavy equipment, including backhoes, excavators, loaders, forklifts, trenchers, and utility plows
  • Install new fiber optic network facilities and service/maintain existing networks
  • Haul and move equipment from project to project
  • Perform pre-trip inspections and monitor vehicle repairs and safety-related issues
  • Assist with setting up work sites and ensuring proper traffic and safety procedures
  • Respond to emergency calls for service and work varied hours, including nights and weekends
  • Maintain safe working habits and conditions according to regulations, procedures, and policies

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of continuous construction project experience operating utility construction equipment
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Must be at least 21, have a clean driving record, and a Class-A CDL is preferred
  • Ability to travel throughout the Colorado and Nebraska regions, including overnight stays in project areas
  • Solid work history of success with little or no utility damage on projects
  • Certifications and/or extensive experience in operating hand and power tools, trenchers
  • Ability to expose and identify utilities after they have been located
  • Perform daily maintenance checks on machines
  • Read communications prints for placing conduit or cables underground
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers, subcontractors, and clients
  • Ability to take direction and work well with others
  • Ability to lift materials that weigh as much as 100 pounds
  • Candidates must have the ability to pass pre-employment criminal background check, MVR check, and substance screen
