Job Description

The Maintenance Specialist will be responsible for troubleshooting and analyzing machine tools in our Steam Turbine & Generator manufacturing plant within GE Vernova Gas Power in Schenectady, NY. They will be expected to make business-critical decisions in a timely manner and meet safety, quality, production, and delivery metrics within a particular cell.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze machine tool failures to identify assignable causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Work closely with the Operations Manager to provide weekly metrics on performance, schedules on critical repairs, and daily updates on critical equipment.
  • Perform as a primary point of contact with Equipment OEM and parts vendors.
  • Recommend major rebuilds and redesigns to Manufacturing Engineering and perform minor redesigns for the elimination of future breakdowns.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering to review, design, install, and upgrade machines, prepare preventative maintenance schedules, lubrication charts, and identify necessary spare parts levels.
  • Lead teams of hourly trade personnel to maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and modify industrial machinery.
  • Direct and train skilled trades in the latest repair techniques and maintenance methods.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement using Lean and 5S Initiatives.
  • Develop opportunities for reducing operating expenses and improving capabilities.
  • Active participation in safety initiatives.
Requirements
  • AAS Degree in Mechanical or Electrical field.
  • 3 Years of technical maintenance experience in manufacturing equipment or military maintenance with training.
  • Knowledge of common computer tools, software, machine applications, portable electronic devices, and technology applications.
  • Proven people skills.
  • Highly organized team player.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5 Years related machine tool maintenance experience in a large manufacturing environment or equivalent military maintenance experience with Mechanical or Electrical training from a military "A/C" schools.
  • Broad understanding of mechanical and electrical aspects of machine tool Numerical Controls, speed variators, PLCs, Robotics, and Laser alignments.
  • Experience as a Machine Tool Field Service Representative.
