Job Title: Clinician/Therapist for Unaccompanied Minors

Reporting Structure: Lead Clinician

Role Summary

The Clinician will be an integral part of NYAP's La Jornada (The Journey) Program, dedicated to supporting minors who have arrived in the U.S. without parental or legal guardian support. This role involves collaborating with minors, foster families, sponsor families, and community partners to provide essential counseling, advocacy, and support services aimed at ensuring the minors' safety and successful integration into the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct all activities in alignment with the National Youth Advocate Program's mission and values.
  • Adhere to established intake, placement, and discharge protocols, including the management of assessments, service plans, and documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Prepare and submit required progress notes and documentation in a timely manner.
  • Perform regular evaluations of minors' risk factors and create individualized service plans.
  • Engage with foster and sponsor families to review necessary documentation and ensure compliance with EHR and UCP requirements.
  • Deliver individual, group, and family mental health services, ensuring that established outcome thresholds are met.
  • Travel to various locations to provide in-home services to minors and families, in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards.
  • Coordinate community services for minors and families, including medical, educational, and psychological support.
  • Screen for potential human trafficking issues and provide crisis intervention as needed.
  • Assist in placement efforts to ensure appropriate living arrangements for minors.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in social work with relevant clinical experience, or a bachelor's degree with five years of clinical experience, and must be licensed or eligible for licensure.
  • Flexibility to work non-traditional hours, including on-call duties as necessary.
  • Ability to organize and transport youth to various locations, including travel by air or land.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle required for job-related travel.
  • Demonstrated capacity to be adaptable and responsive to the needs of youth and families.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and objectivity in all job functions.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is essential for effective communication with clients.
  • Proficient in using various technology tools, including computers and software applications.
