Role Summary

The Clinician for NYAP's La Jornada (The Journey) Program is dedicated to making a significant impact in the lives of minors who have arrived in the U.S. without parental or legal guardian support. This role involves collaborating closely with minors, foster families, sponsor families, and community partners to provide essential counseling, advocacy, and support aimed at facilitating safe and successful community integration.

Key Responsibilities

The Clinician will be responsible for:
  • Conducting all activities in alignment with the National Youth Advocate Program's mission and values.
  • Adhering to established intake, placement, and discharge protocols, including conducting and updating assessments, service plans, and necessary documentation within specified timelines.
  • Documenting progress notes and ensuring timely uploads to the electronic health record (EHR) system and government databases.
  • Regularly reviewing risk assessments, behavior management strategies, and individual service plans for minors.
  • Engaging with foster and sponsor families to review documentation and ensure compliance with all procedural requirements.
  • Delivering individual, group, and family mental health services while meeting established performance benchmarks.
  • Traveling to various community locations to provide in-home services to minors and families, ensuring adherence to organizational and regulatory standards.
  • Coordinating community services for minors and families, including medical, educational, and psychological support.
  • Identifying potential human trafficking issues and providing crisis intervention as needed.
  • Assisting in the placement process for minors in line with their case plans.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree in social work with relevant clinical experience and eligibility for licensure; or a bachelor's degree with five years of clinical experience and eligibility for licensure (if applicable).
  • Flexibility to work non-traditional hours, including potential on-call responsibilities.
  • Ability to organize and transport youth to various locations, including potential out-of-state travel.
  • Valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage.
  • Capacity to adapt to the needs of youth, families, and system partners.
  • Professionalism and objectivity in all job functions.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is essential for effective communication with clients.
  • Proficient in using various technology tools, including computers and software applications.
