Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Dispatcher to coordinate the movement of materials and equipment.
  • Assign loads to warehouse associates and ensure they are properly staged.
  • Designate storage areas for materials and ensure they are properly secured.
  • Load and unload materials from pallets, trucks, and customer vehicles, and secure them for transport.
  • Operate forklifts and other equipment to move products and materials around the yard and warehouse.
  • Build loads to ensure they are balanced and safe for transport, taking into account customer orders and delivery vehicle capacity.
  • Convey materials to and from storage using hand trucks, forklifts, and other equipment.
  • Attach identifying tags or labels to materials and mark information for easy identification.
  • Identify damaged materials and report them to management.
  • Perform daily maintenance on equipment and ensure a clean and safe working environment.
  • Communicate effectively with management, branch personnel, and customers.
  • Verify inventory against purchase orders and assist with cycle counting to ensure accuracy.

Requirements

  • One year of recent forklift/warehouse experience.
  • A safe work record and stable work history.
  • Ability to proficiently and safely use forklifts to transport products and load/unload trucks.
  • Ability to read and comprehend sales orders, purchase orders, and safety materials.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs using safe lifting techniques.
  • Knowledge of loading, unloading, and storage requirements.
