Position Title: Mechanical Estimator

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with various stakeholders, including account managers, end users, engineering teams, and vendors, to collect pertinent information for each estimating project.
  • Assess field conditions to guide project decisions and accurately estimate costs for large-scale mechanical retrofit projects without relying on drawings or specifications.
  • Analyze customer-provided drawings and specifications to develop effective quotation strategies.
  • Collaborate with estimating, engineering, and sales teams to understand customer needs and create competitive bids.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of the California Mechanical Code and relevant local regulations.
  • Determine the most cost-effective options for equipment, materials, and labor during the estimation process.
  • Utilize all available estimating documentation and software tools to prepare detailed bills of materials and labor estimates for quotations.
  • Ensure timely and organized completion of all documentation in accordance with company policies and management directives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in HVAC estimation or related retrofit experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of various mechanical systems, including chillers, boilers, cooling towers, piping systems, HVAC ductwork, and related components.
  • Demonstrated self-motivation, strong work ethic, and a collaborative team spirit.
  • Experience working in customer-occupied environments during construction in commercial and industrial settings.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (SharePoint, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.).
  • Strong technical writing abilities and the capacity to interpret RFPs, drawings, and construction plans effectively.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage detailed tasks efficiently and ensure smooth project transitions to the operations team.
