Schedule: Pool 1 - 4 shifts per month, 8-hour shifts.

As a key member of our therapeutic team, the Experiential Therapist I is responsible for the development, planning, implementation, facilitation, direction, and evaluation of innovative therapy programs across various specialized treatment domains. This role requires a deep understanding of psychosocial dynamics within patient groups and the application of diverse expressive activities in a therapeutic context. The therapist will utilize a broad spectrum of experiential modalities, including adventure-based activities, sports, dance, group initiatives, arts and crafts, music, outdoor pursuits, psychodrama, horticulture, and challenge courses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and assess programming across specialized treatment areas.
  • Support daily departmental operations in the absence of leadership.
  • Oversee and mentor student interns in their professional development.
  • Apply knowledge of psychosocial functioning to enhance therapeutic activities.
  • Employ recreational strategies to assist patients in applying recovery skills learned in therapeutic sessions.
  • Deliver personalized treatment in a group environment.
  • Maintain awareness of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) techniques.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in art, music, dance, recreation, or related therapeutic fields; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Certification or registration through a recognized credentialing body is preferred.
  • A valid driver's license is required for specific assignments.
  • CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is mandatory within thirty days of hire, with annual re-certification.
  • Completion of training in managing aggressive patients is required within sixty days of hire, including self-defense training.
  • Annual renewal of Ropes and Challenge Course training is required, where applicable.
  • Experience or licensure is necessary for those working with children facing mental health challenges.
  • Compliance with training requirements for Residential Care Centers and Community-Based Residential Facilities is essential for applicable staff.
