Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented School Nutrition Assistant to join our team at North Carolina Jobs. As a key member of our food service team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of our students by preparing and serving nutritious meals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook meals according to standardized recipes and quantities
  • Operate food preparation equipment and maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment
  • Provide excellent customer service to students and staff
  • Work effectively as part of a team to ensure efficient meal service
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the School Nutrition Manager
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent and experience in quantity food preparation
  • Working knowledge of food preparation and serving practices, safety and sanitation standards, and the use of food preparation equipment
  • Ability to read and comprehend recipes and directions for use of equipment
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships
  • Ability to operate automated cash collection point of service
Working Conditions

This is a 10-month position, working three to six hours daily. The successful candidate must be able to lift and carry 10-25 pounds on a regular basis and up to 50 pounds on occasion. The ability to stand for excess of 3 to 6 hours and perform repetitive tasks is also required.

The School Nutrition Assistant will be required to facilitate the evacuation of students during emergency situations and/or drills. The ability to perform physically challenging and labor-intensive sustained work tasks in an environment that is often noisy and includes extreme temperatures involved in large operation food preparation is essential.
