Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Education Specialist to join our team at St. Luke's Hospital. This individual will play a critical role in assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating educational programs and projects that support and improve the provision of quality, cost-effective, and compassionate patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the educational activities of the Critical Care Division, assessing and designing educational programs to support the goals and objectives of the Universal Care/Patient Care Center model of care delivery.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills and coordinate the education and training activities within the Critical Care Division, ensuring that staff are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to provide high-quality patient care.
  • Maintain clinical competence in the provision of patient care in acute, intermediate, and critical care levels, and demonstrate expertise in the teaching/learning process.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement, assess staff performance, and facilitate the implementation of new practices in patient care, collaborating with medical staff colleagues to develop and implement education and training associated with new technologies, procedures, and other patient care-related activities.
  • Assess learning needs of staff and provide opportunities to enhance ongoing education and development through mentoring, teaching, and clinical support, identifying, developing, and/or providing classroom and clinical experiences to support the learning of new and current nursing personnel.
Requirements
  • Graduate of a recognized RN program, with a Bachelor's degree required and a Master's degree in nursing in progress with completion expected within 18-24 months.
  • Five years of direct clinical experience in cardiac/cardiothoracic/cardiovascular patient care, including open heart and thoracic surgery at the critical care level in an acute healthcare setting, with demonstrated leadership skills in the clinical environment.
  • Current experience providing professional staff development, education, and competence assessment in the area of cardiac/cardiothoracic/cardiovascular care at the unit or facility level, with demonstrated success as a nurse preceptor.
