Blood Bank Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Technologist to join our team at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. As a Medical Technologist in our Transfusion Services department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient preparation of blood components for transfusion.
Key Responsibilities- Process patient specimens for ABO/RH typing, crossmatching, and antibody screening/identification
- Handle phone inquiries regarding patient results, specimen collection, and product availability
- Participate in quality control, quality assurance, and general laboratory duties such as filing and data entry
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure accurate and timely transfusion of blood products
- Bachelor's degree in medical technology or equivalent certification
- MT/MLS certification within 1 year of hire
- Meets minimum continuing education requirements and health surveillance requirements
