The Bilingual Case Manager role within the Juvenile Forensic Unit (S.P.O.R.E.) is a critical position responsible for overseeing and managing cases involving youth with mental health and/or intellectual disabilities who are engaged with the juvenile justice system.

Key Responsibilities

This position entails providing essential supportive counseling and forensic case management services to juvenile offenders. The Bilingual SPORE Case Manager will work closely with individuals and families, employing a compassionate approach to facilitate successful community supervision outcomes.

The role requires a high degree of independence, critical thinking, and sound judgment, all while operating under the guidance of a clinical supervisor. Regular individual meetings, treatment team discussions, and clinical consultations with licensed mental health professionals are integral to this position.

The Bilingual SPORE Case Manager collaborates with designated juvenile probation officers to identify the most effective and least restrictive treatment options, aiming to mitigate harmful behaviors and symptoms while ensuring community safety. This aligns with the principles of the Child and Adolescent Service System Program (CASSP).

Work Schedule and Additional Information
  • Full-time position.
  • Standard work hours are from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, including a 30-minute lunch break.
  • Occasional non-traditional hours may be required for curfew checks, meetings, court appearances, or emergencies.
Qualifications

To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Six months of experience as a County Caseworker 1; or
  • Successful completion of the County Social Casework Intern program; or
  • A bachelor's degree in social welfare; or
  • A bachelor's degree supplemented by 12 college credits in relevant social sciences and one year of professional social casework experience; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that includes 12 college credits in relevant social sciences.

Applicants nearing graduation with a qualifying degree or credits will also be considered.

Additional Requirements
  • Ability to read, write, and speak in Spanish is mandatory.
  • Successful candidates must pass a Spanish speaking proficiency evaluation.
  • Background investigation is required.
  • Compliance with the Child Protective Services Law is necessary, including submission of satisfactory criminal history reports.
