Under the direct guidance of a Registered Nurse or licensed Nurse, this role involves supporting routine and repetitive patient care tasks within a healthcare unit. The position also encompasses specific administrative, organizational, and patient-centered responsibilities, all aimed at enhancing patient support.

We are at the forefront of advanced medical services, including robotic-assisted surgeries and a wide range of specialty care offerings such as medical imaging, rehabilitation, hospice, and women's health services.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to the OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
  • Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Complete necessary documentation accurately.
  • Prepare patient rooms for new admissions by setting up IV equipment and adjusting beds as needed.
  • Ensure that all patient belongings are accounted for during transfers or discharges.
  • Safely transport stable patients as required.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security while interacting with patients, families, and visitors.
  • Clean, procure, and return medical equipment and supplies.
  • Run errands within the unit as necessary.
  • Support licensed personnel in creating a safe and comfortable environment for patients; replenish rooms with water, linens, and towels as appropriate.
  • Perform unit-specific patient care tasks as outlined in the skills checklist and document on the flowsheet.
  • Identify and report any noticeable changes in a patient's condition to the supervising nurse promptly.
  • Assist with inventory management and ordering of stock items as needed.
  • Keep unit supplies organized and orderly.
  • Respond effectively to emergency situations.
  • Communicate efficiently with team members during and between shifts.
  • Respond to phone calls and patient call lights in a timely manner.
  • Adapt patient assessment and care methods to meet the unique needs of each individual served.
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform assigned patient care responsibilities in a manner that meets the developmental needs of the patient population served by the department.

Qualifications:
A. Education/Skills: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
B. Experience: Previous patient care experience in an acute care environment is preferred.
C. Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications: CNA License in the state of employment is required. BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) is mandatory.
