About the Role

As a Medical Assistant at South Texas Health System Clinics, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and supporting our healthcare team. Our clinics are committed to providing exceptional service and care to the people of the Rio Grande Valley.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with daily clerical operations, including answering phone calls and making copies of documents as necessary.
  • Accurately file patient charts, including scanning documents into files as necessary.
  • Schedule patient appointments, return visits, and specialists as needed.
  • Pre-authorize prescriptions and clinical tests as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical Assistant certificate required or must obtain certification within six (6) months of employment.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification required.
  • Medical Assistant Certificate of Completion and/or one year experience as a Medical Assistant.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology required.
  • Experience with patient check-in and check-out process (according to clinic protocol).
