Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our team in the Division of Child Abuse Pediatrics at UT Health San Antonio. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with our experienced child abuse pediatricians, nurses, and social workers to provide comprehensive care to patients with suspected or confirmed child abuse or neglect.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct medical evaluations of patients referred to the Child Abuse Division to provide clinical assessments and optimize patient care.
  • Provide evidence-based expertise in child abuse/neglect care and management to maximize clinical outcomes for patients and families.
  • Collaborate with primary medical teams, medical consultants, subspecialty services, nurses, social workers, and community agencies to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Rotate in the 24/7 on-call schedule with Child Abuse Pediatricians, with backup support available.
  • Attend weekly clinical rounds and multidisciplinary meetings to stay informed and contribute to team discussions.
  • Function as a liaison between primary medical teams, medical consultants, and community agencies to facilitate communication and coordination.
  • Provide expert witness testimony as needed, based on medical evaluations and conclusions.
Requirements
  • Current licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Physician Assistant or Master Prepared Nurse Practitioner in Texas.
  • Credentialed by the state to practice as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner Acute Care.
  • Prescriptive authority and experience in pediatrics, including emergency department or PICU, preferred.
